Happy snapper claims top prize

Ask any photographer and they'll tell you the secret of a great photo is simple - be in the right place at the right time.

Sticking with that philosophy has earned David White first prize in The Newsport's Best Photo Competition for March with his image titled 'Eric The Cannibal'.

David, who runs Daintree River tours on board his boat 'Solar Whisper', just happened to within snapping distance (pardon the pun) of one of nature's more gruesome spectacles, a large crocodile feasting on one of its own.

Well done David, you've won a stunning 30cm x 46cm acrylic print valued at $130 PLUS $50 cash thanks to the competition's major sponsor, Perrin Clarke at Imagebank Australia.

Our runner-up also had her timing spot on. Lorree Cox' 'Lightning Storm Off Yorkey's Knob' displayed the power of nature, and, thanks to Opens external link in new windowSailaway Port Douglas, she'll soon be cruising with a friend on a fabulous Sunset Sail out of Port Douglas. Congrats and enjoy, Lorree.

Susanne Stannard's 'Boat On The Beach' caught the eyes of the judges and Susanne has been rewarded with an Italian recipe book and MasterChef apron thanks to Coles Supermarket Port Douglas.

Barbara Lavis has claimed the Editor's Choice prize for March with her 'Isabella Falls' photo. Barbara is a regular entrant and this pic was too good to overlook. Barbara will get her just desserts with a $50 meal voucher from magnificent Seabean Cafe Restaurant in Port Douglas. Well done Barbara.

Last but not least, the public has had their say in the Most Popular Photo category and Charlotte Hellings' 'Sunset On The Green' got the nod. Congrats Charlotte, you've won a $20 shopping card thanks yet again to Coles Supermarket Port Douglas.

Winners, please contact The Newsport on 4099 5122 - you've got 30 days to claim your prize!

We've already seen some brilliant photos coming in for April so why not join in? Send up to four photos, each with your name and a title, to competitions@thenewsport.com.au.
