G gives NBL Grand Final tip
There have been no surprises thus far in the NBL semis as the two top seeds, New Zealand and Perth, have swept their opponents to now meet in the Grand Final.
It’s still a massive shame that our Taipans couldn’t notch one more win to get a crack at NZ and a home final. It would have been great for the fans (and I believe we could have got a win up here) and also much needed revenue for the club.
It is said a home final is worth between $75,000 and $100,000 to the home team which also helps sum up the looks on the faces of coach Fearne and CEO Mark Beecroft after the Melbourne Tigers loss!
It’s definitely the most disappointing loss in the club's history considering what was at stake, and the fact they never should have lost it. I’ll be talking to Aaron Fearne on the Saturday Morning Sports Show with Kezza and Muffy (90.9 FM Radio PD) between 9am – 11am Saturday morning which should be a great chat.
NZ are now seriously in the box seat to pull off a 3-peat as they have home court advantage, and Perth lost Damian Martin in the semis to a calf injury. Martin means a lot to Perth as he is their quarterback (point guard) and is a wonderful defender.
The NZ Breakers have this guy named Cedric Jackson (pictured) who is an NBA quality player who now doesn’t have the NBL’s best defender harassing him for this series.
I still think it will go to three games but stick with serve now – NZ in three. MVP – Cedric Jackson!
