Football codes to hold emergency meeting

Senior representatives of Port Douglas AFL team the Crocs, and Port Douglas Rugby Union team the Reef Raiders will meet with local police at 3pm today to discuss the off-field conduct of their players.

The Newsport believes at least two late-night incidents involving a small number of players from the Crocs and Raiders have compelled the Rugby Union club to approach police to instigate the talks.

Port Douglas Police Officer-In-Charge, Sergeant Damian Meadows, who will act as moderator in this afternoon's talks, said there has been a "promising" response from both clubs, and added representatives were keen to sort out any issues as soon as possible.

The Douglas Dragons Football Club and Mossman/Port Douglas Sharks Rugby League Club are not involved in today's discussions.
