Men’s Bowls

There was another good turnout for social bowls on Saturday with 16 of our bowlers attending the Orchid Festival in Cooktown.

J Beasley, Kiwi and J Fary def. A Christie, G Marsh and C Maxted 23-15, J R, E Smith and D Blain def. D Head, C Dwyer and D Patterson 26-18, B Field and Doug Pitt def. T Pisot and P Gorsuch 23-13, and the winners of the day were R Williamson and R Gard who defeated G Bolton and T Brlyack 32-12.

This Saturday will be Jackpot bowls with a 1pm start and registrations by midday.

A reminder that teams for the Super Challenge at South Johnston depart next Saturday from the club at 6.30am sharp so please be early.

Ladies Bowls

Twenty-four ladies had a lovely day for ‘Doreen’s Day’. The winners were Sylvia Patterson, Carole Maxted and Judy Maxwell (+17). Second were Maree Crees, Margaret Cooper and Greta Burke (+15) and third place went to Denise Highland, June Holdcroft and Glen Lepp (+14).

The lucky raffle winner was Janice Brlyack.

Today, Janice Brlyack, Jean Marsh and Greta Burke will play Bev Zillfleisch, Sonia Edwards and Maria Mijo for the graded triples trophy.
