Top of the morning for winners
It must have been something in the morning air as two of the top three Best Photo Competition winning entries were taken in the wee hours.
Charlotte Hellings was the judges' choice for the top gong in August with her 'Mystical Morning' shot. Charlotte has won herself a $100 voucher from Garrick's Camera House as well as $50 cash.
For the third time in a row Charlotte has taken out the Most Popular Photo showing the power of social media in drumming up support. No doubt Charlotte's friends and family will be sharpening their cooking skills after winning another MasterChef apron and Italian Recipe cookbook thanks to Coles Supermarket Port Douglas.
In second place was the ever-present Tod Walker with his unique look at the famous Far North Queensland landscape. 'Cane to Mountain' was a whisker away from earning Tod his first ever Best Photo Competition win.
Perrin Clarke from Imagebank Australia in Port Douglas will no doubt do a stellar job of displaying the shot (or another of his choice) on a stretched canvas valued at $120.
In another brilliant reflection of life in the north, Gypsy has taken out third prize for her depiction of harvest time on the cane fields. 'Misty Morning Cut' is a brilliant photo and Gypsy will be rewarded with a double-pass to Moonlight Cinema Port Douglas.
Prize winners can arrange collection by calling The Newsport on 4099 5122.
As always we really appreciate the efforts of all photographers who take the time to add their vision to the growing photographic gallery of the region. We especially love seeing comments and encouragement on the Best Photo Competition page.
You can also show your support of those who sponsor the competition - Garricks Camera House, Perrin Clarke from Imagebank Australia, Coles Supermarket Port Douglas, and Moonlight Cinema Port Douglas.
It's a tough gig for our judges, Perrin, and Ben and Cath from Sass Studios, and Ali from Catseye Productions. Let us know if you agree with their decision.
September entries are now being accepted so send in your top pics to editor@thenewsport.com.au.
