A round of golf with friends will translate into more support for local families as the Port Douglas Neighbourhood Centre holds its annual golf day fundraiser.

To be held at Sea Temple Golf Club on Sunday 23 September, all proceeds will go to the Neighbourhood Centre's family support programs including resourcing staff, playgroups, and parent's groups.

"People come to town for work and we have a lot of people who come to town who don't know anyone," event organiser Jenni Sorenson said.

"They meet at the playgroups and make life-long friends. It's great support for families who don't have anyone."

All teams will go into the draw for a trip to the reef while the best dressed team will also win a prize.

The Ambrose event is $100 per head to enter with teams of four being sought. Hit off is at 12.30pm and the entry fee includes cart hire and an all-day BBQ.
