Police remember fallen officers
This Friday marks Police Remembrance Day, an occasion to pay tribute to police officers who have passed away in the course of, or after, serving their community.
A service will be held in Port Douglas at St Mary's By The Sea on Friday at 10am and the public are welcome to join officers to pay their respects.
Police Remembrance Day is arguably one of the most important days on the policing calendar, and has been held in regional centres throughout Queensland since 1989.
"It's nice that people are aware of it and some people can come along," said Dian Padovan of Port Douglas Police. A morning tea will follow the short service.
Blue ribbons to show your support for the cause are available at the Port Douglas Police Station in return for a small donation to the Police Legacy fund.
