Muddies kick start season
In the first game of the season the lads were keen to get out and play against United. Captain Simon Cody won the toss and had no hesitation in batting first on what was a good looking pitch prepared by the club's new groundsman Troy Shepard.
The batting was opened by golden arm Keith Taylor and new player to the club Sam Hodgson. The pair put on a partnership of 24 before Sam was dismissed on 13.
Wickets fell in pretty quick concession before Vikas Chandra and Keith put on a 44 run partnership. With the score at 6-89 in came Adam Luca and with some big hitting another partnership of 40 quickly developed.
Keith Taylor was the best batsman with a great opener's knock of 65. Adam Lucas was dismissed for 22 off 19 balls. Best bowler for United was J.Dolon with figures of 5/43 off 12 overs. The Muddies were all out for 149.
There were six overs remaining in the day and the Muddies were hunting for a quick couple of wickets. David Johnson, new to the club, was given the new ball and bowled a very tidy line and finished with figures of 0/5 off 4 overs.
Adam Lucas was given the other end and got the breakthrough in his second over to leave Untied 1/11 chasing 150 for first innings points.
Day 2 will commence next Sunday at 1pm.
