Mossman Mill jobs up for grabs

Mackay Sugar’s Mossman Mill has commenced its recruitment program for its 2013 Apprentice Intake, with the aim of providing three people the chance to kick-start their trade career in the sugar industry.

Each year, Mossman Mill offers apprenticeship opportunities in the electrical (Electrical Fitter/Mechanic), mechanical (Fitter and Turner) and fabrication (Boilermaker) trade areas.

Mackay Sugar Mossman Mill Manager Haydn Slattery said the mill’s apprenticeship scheme provides apprentices with the necessary skills and knowledge to establish a successful trade career.

You look like you've got something to say? Why not write a Letter to the Editor?

“We currently have 13 apprentices undertaking an apprenticeship at Mossman Mill, with each of them receiving guidance from our large pool of long-serving employees, some of whom have been working at Mossman Mill for almost 40 years.

“Several of these employees also started their careers as apprentices and are today in various management positions across the mill,” Mr Slattery said.

Mackay Sugar say ideal applicants for the 2013 Apprentice Intake will have completed Year 12, with above average academic results, and applications close at 4pm on Friday 12 October.
