It's elementary

In the final North Queensland regional dressage club championship of the 2012 season, Angela Sausman and Spritz of Julatten-based Horse North Dressage Team, were crowned Official Elementary Champions at the weekend in Townsville.

“Spritz and I have had a great season – gold medal winners at the North Queensland Games, official elementary champions at the Cairns Show/FNEG championship, and now champions at the Townsville Dressage Club (TDC)," Angela said.

"We only made reserve champion at the NQEG championships in Townsville, due to my injury on the second day of the competition and that also impacted on our home ground champs in Mareeba.

"The results from this last weekend, though, confirm that we are back on track and consistently improving scores with our training, making us the most successful combination in north Queensland at elementary level this year.

"This is a great finish to the season not only for Spritz but also for my second horse, APH Swish who came third in his debut in the dressage to music freestyle on only his second outing at Novice level.”

Angela thanked her Mareeba-based coach Kim Weston, visits from Queensland State Coach Carlos DeCleermaecker and her sponsors, local riding wear company The Tack Shed.

Although Angela and Spritz have easily qualified for the Queensland State Dressage Finals in October, she has made the hard decision not to venture south again this year.

“The trip to the Caboolture finals is both long and expensive, so we are in the process of looking for further sponsorship for the Horse North team to help us be even more competitive and successful at both at State level and at southern official competitions in 2013.”
