Investigations continue into car crash

Mossman CIB are continuing to investigate a single-car accident near Newell Beach that occurred in the early hours of 1 September.

Police say a 31 year-old Cairns woman "unlawfully used" a vehicle owned by a Wonga Beach resident and ran into trouble on the Mossman-Daintree Road between Newell Beach and North Mossman.

The car rolled causing extensive damage, and the driver was trapped until emergency service crews could attend.

She sustained a fractured pelvis and was taken to Cairns Base Hospital for treatment where a sample of blood was taken and sent away for drug and alcohol analysis.

Charges are expected to be laid shortly.
