With less than two months to go before the Port Douglas cyclone shelter is due for completion by construction company, Northbuild, we bring you pictures from within the building which will keep around 800 people safe and sound should a severe weather event come calling.

Water to the building will be supplied by 5,000lt, 15,000lt, and 20,000lt water tanks while power will be maintained via a generator and huge battery bank.

A spring-loaded timber floor will be constructed for basketball, while a netball court and three volleyball courts will also be available.
