Double Dragons

The Douglas United Football Club has done the region proud with both their Premier League and Third Division teams storming into this week's Grand Finals.

While the Premier League team has shown amazing consistency throughout the year, it has been more of a rollercoaster ride for the Third Division crew.

Friday night's game against Marlin Coast to secure a Grand Final position went down to the wire, winning in a nail-biting penalty shootout. They'll now play in the big one this Friday night.

Keep your eyes open for James Turner's match report later this week.

The Dragons' Rodney Rasmussen highlighted the incredible performances of both teams.

"We're the most successful club in Port Douglas with 100% of our teams making the Grand Final.

"The club is hoping to get as many supporters down to Cairns to cheer the lads on and help them get over the line."

For you avid football followers, supporters buses will be taking people to Endeavour Park for the Premier League Grand Final on Saturday, leaving Mossman (opposite the newsagent) at 4.45pm and Port Douglas (outside IGA and Rattle 'n' Hum).

For more information, and to book a place on a bus call Logan Marsh 0404 328 816, Neil Burcombe 0427 988 289, or Nick Tither 0406 918 601.
