Daintree inspires local muso

'Daintree Dancing' is a new release from Port Douglas-based singer-songwriter Omid Master. Omid said the album reflects his renewed emphasis on a rich acoustic sound and features guitar, didgeridoo, the sounds of the tropics recorded from his back yard, and the vocal talent of another local, Upasana Papadopoulos.

Daintree Dancing is the result of Omid’s ongoing collaboration with poet and lyricist Helen Ramoutsaki.

“The inspiration for the lyrics has been millions of years in the making," Helen said. The Daintree rainforest is...a unique environment which opens up a living record of Australia’s evolutionary span. Daintree Dancing celebrates the sensation of moving beneath its canopy, swept up in the sights and sounds, all linked in a common breath”.

The release follows Omid’s first two albums, all under his own record label Omcore Music. The title track off his debut album 'Everything is Okay' was selected as the theme song for the 2010 Port Douglas Carnivale.

The album subsequently reached the top 400 in the ARIA chart, which is an achievement for an independent artist living in a remote region.

Omid's second album 'Forgotten About Today' hit the www.waterfrontrecords.com chart at number eight and with pre-release sales progressed to number four for three weeks running.

In recent years Omid has opened for acts like Matt McHugh (The Beautiful Girls), Lior and Eskimo Joe.
