Chip away for Chisel

Mossman Golf Club will be hosting an annual event to commemorate our great mate Ian “Chisel” McCormack. The amended date is Saturday 13 October, so get your funny hat and colourful outfit together for a fun day of Ambrose.
We have had a week of glorious weather, and 38 players competed in Tuesday’s Stableford event. The event was won by Brian MacDonald with 38 points on a count-back to Michael Gabour and Phil
Holloway.
Nearest the pins were Wayne Soxsmith on 6, Brian on 8 and 10, Ian Steley on 13 and Kym Rowley on 17. Wayne’s impressive eagle on the 451m par 5 hole number 4, unfortunately did not qualify to win the birdie competition.
The winner of Wednesday’s nine hole event was Julie Hooker with 26 points, ahead of Shona Barbour with 25 and Lucy Giles with 23 points on a count-back to Sally Reason. Nearest the pins were Sam Brischetto (great shot to 60cm) on 6 and Julie on 8.
Thursday’s Ladies stableford event was won by Patti Graham with 39 points, second place Helen Gabour with 37 points on a count-back to Lucy Giles. Nearest the pins were Patti on 6, Shona Barbour on 8, Glenda Christensen on 10 and Helen on 13.

The Friday Frolic was won by L. Eddington with 19 points on a count-back to John Reason.
Saturday’s Stableford event was won by Billy McCarthy with 40 points on a count-back to John Norris, and Rob Young in third place with 39 points on a count-back to Bernie Boon, Jeff Murray and Mick Lancaster.
Nearest the pins were Des Graham on 6, Charlie Kadic on 8, Broz Jurie on 10, Billy on 13 and Mick on 17.
The Ladies Stableford event was won by Trish Landy with 36 points and runner-up Christie Bouwkamp with 34 points. Nearest the pins were Trish on 8, Dot Jurie on 10 and 13, and Shona Barbour on 17.
On Sunday, 44 players enjoyed the Mossman Auto Repairs AFL v NRL Challenge. It was a very tight result, requiring a playoff, which saw the AFL team victorious.
Nearest the pins were Shirley Carney on 6, Brett Jurie on 8, Bette Wells on 10, Ranald Edwards on 13 and Shona Barbour on 17.
