And then there were 4

And then there were 4

With only three games of footy left for 2012 one may start to feel a little sad, but the next fortnight is the most exciting part of the season!

The first two weeks of finals have seen a trend emerge with the Scott twins gone in Week 1 and the West Aussies gone in Week 2. Victorians out in Week 3? No way! Here’s how it will pan out...

Friday night - Swans vs Pies (ANZ Stadium, Sydney)

This is a happy hunting ground for Collingwood. In fact they have beaten the Swans in their last 13 trips to NSW including five at ANZ Stadium. They did it without Dane Swan a month ago to knock the Swannies off the top of the pecking order.

This will be a brutal contest and extremely hard to tip. If Hawthorn are to advance (and they will) we want the winner of this one to give us the closest and most exciting Grand Final next week.

On paper and form I think that is Sydney who have flown under the radar all year and keep getting the job done.

The Pies, however, beat a very good Eagles outfit last week and it was nice to see Daisy Thomas back in the thick of the action. I think Collingwood will continue this whacky voodoo against Sydney and end their season in dramatic fashion with the last kick of the day!

Pies by 2.

Saturday twilight - Hawks vs Crows (MCG)

I take my hat off to Brenton Sanderson and the job he’s done with Adelaide this year. Sometimes things are a perfect fit and this relationship just worked from Day 1.
The Crows were bottom four last season and will go within one game of a Grand Final in 12 months. To be a legitimate contender however they needed to beat Sydney and earn a week off last week.

Freo smashed 'em all over the park on Friday night and if it wasn’t for Walker’s heroics the Dockers almost put 'em to bed.

Hawthorn on the other hand are fresh, injury free and extremely well coached (I love this angry little man) and will shrug the Crows off after a gallant two-and-a-half quarters.

Hawks by 36.

This will set up Hawks vs Pies GF which is as exciting as it is nerve-wracking. Right now the Hawks would be all over it but let’s see what the weekend produces with injuries etc.

The Pies still have to get it done but let’s hope the footy Gods dish us up a cracker Grand Final Saturday week.
