The Viewpoint - Top 5 best songs ever!
You may have seen my most loathed songs of all time in a Viewpoint a few weeks back. Now it's time to share, whether you like it or not, my top five songs ever (well, this week anyway).
I've tried to pick songs from different genres to mix things up a bit. I hope you enjoy them, but chances are you won't.
1. Blackened - Metallica
From their 1980s 'And Justice For All' album. They might be a little older and a little slower these days but they can still get a crowd going. Lyrics that are just as relevant now as when they were written.
2. Magic Fountain - Art vs Science
Many a time I've had this song pumping in my car, most notably to get myself energised for a Mossman Chamber of Commerce meeting. Great video clip to boot.
3. Red Right Hand - Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
This could have easily been any of Nick Cave's library of songs. The greatest songwriter Australia has ever produced.
4. Strength Through Music - Amanda Palmer
Written about the Columbine High massacre, a brilliant song from a brilliant debut album. Well worth enduring the ad at the start to listen to.
5. Fish Heads - Barnes and Barnes
I told you I was going to mix things up. Is there a more inappropriate way to follow on from a song about a tragedy than with this Barnes and Barnes 1979 classic? Surely the strangest lyrics and video clip of all time.
Unlucky - Any Alice In Chains song.
So there you have it. Tell me what you think of my top 5. What songs would you have included?
