School funding bucks trend
Eight local schools will receive up to $160,000 as part of the State Government’s two-year, $200 million Advancing Our Schools Maintenance Fund.
Daintree State School ($17,830), Julatten State School ($33,430), Miallo State School ($105,700), Mossman State High School ($160,000), Mossman State School ($160,000), Mount Molloy State School ($22,450), Port Douglas State School ($59,850), and Wonga Beach State School ($12,400) will use their funding to fix priority maintenance issues

The announcement of the funding may help to ease community anger directed toward the LNP after it was criticised for ignoring the region in the latest budget spending measures.
