Green machine earn bonus points

Chasing down Rovers’ 137 to win and 1/27 from last week, Muddies Green batsmen Darlington and King progressed steadily.

King was the anchor man playing straight with power and building to beat the infield, whilst Darlington typically worked to play over the top reaching 50 in the 25th over before being adjudged as one of 7 LBW’s, Muddies 2/79.

Redfern showed disdain for the bowling especially Rovers’ Lawson who had found himself under warning from the umpire for unsportsmanlike behaviour and plundered a quick 23 before becoming the start of a mini collapse including King (20), H D’Adonna (0), and Barnes (0), taking Muddies Green from 2/106 to 6/109 with Lawson the beneficiary snaring four wickets in the space of six deliveries.

Miglioranza (12) wanted to finish the total off too quickly and was caught behind as Muddies sat quietly on the side still 16 runs short.

It was a calm and calculated unbroken partnership of 19 between keeper McCullough (9no) and Walz (10no) that got the Muddies home before declaring four runs ahead to attempt to maximise some bonus points after the first innings win by sending Rovers back in.

Smith opened well after his first week looseners, successful with a clean bowled in his first over, picking up 3/14 off 6 overs, whilst H D’Adonna, lamenting his first ball duck, managed to not only take Rovers' top scorer Cook for 20 LBW as a virtual solo appeal, but another wicket for impressive figures of 2/6 off 7.

It could have been three for D'Adonna with a tight missed caught and bowled as well.

Rovers finished on 5/66 handing some useful bonus points to the home team. Muddies Green again operate at home next Sunday at 1pm, so get down and show some local support.
