Epic battle for sailing honours
The 24 race Poseidon Sailaway Club Championship is set for a thrilling finale this weekend with the final two races of the Spring Series.
Three yachts are in contention for the overall Club Championship and five for the Spring Series with both to be decided in the double header this coming Saturday with a possible tied result in each.
Following last weekend’s race Jimmie Blacksmith holds a commanding lead in the Spring Series but with two dropped scores coming into play in the last two races the series is wide open.
An even closer contest has developed for the Club Championship with the possibility of just two points separating the top three contenders after the drops are applied.
This creates a must win situation for all boats this coming Saturday and with handicaps ensuring the closest of competition there will be no room for error for any of the crew.

Corrected times provided another very tight finish in the Spring Series Race 6 (Club Championship Race 22) on Saturday with Ann Sea (01:02:02) just four seconds behind Magic (01:01:58) who in turn was only twenty two seconds behind Ruff Red (01:01:36).
Jimmie Blacksmith (00:57:39) secured second but the win on the day went to Ice (00:55:52).
For the Spring Series Jimmie Blacksmith (12) retained first overall and Ruff Red (17) and Magic (17) are now locked in a tie for second ahead of Ice (22) and Ann Sea (24). However the drops coming into play with Race 7 and 8 have potential to dramatically narrow the margin between all five contenders.
With the result applied to the Club Championship Magic (45) holds a slender lead over Ice (47) and Ann Sea (49) with everything still at stake for a share in the $1,000 prize pool courtesy of major sponsor Poseidon and Sailaway.
