Assault case adjourned

Luke James Vidito, the 30 year-old on Assault Occasioning Bodily Harm charges after a late-night incident left a Port Douglas man with head injuries, has had his case adjourned.

Appearing in Mossman Magistrates Court last Wednesday, Vidito, who originates from Mossman but now resides in Trinity Beach, was released on bail to reappear on 24 October.

According to police, the victim's head hit the pavement after the blow, rendering him unconscious and he was taken by ambulance to Mossman Hospital and later transferred to Cairns Base Hospital to receive treatment for two small fractures of the skull and a brain contusion. He remained in hospital for three days.

The assault was caught on CCTV from a licensed venue which greatly assisted police in making the arrest. Police have reiterated their desire to have security cameras located in strategic hot spots in Macrossan and Grant Streets, Port Douglas.
