Young Muddies keep Mareeba at bay

The young Muddies travelled to Mareeba to take on the undefeated Thunder. Captain Allison lost the toss and was sent in to bat.

The boys lost three quick wickets before opener Rayner and Edward came together and took control with a steady 15 run partnership. With renewed confidence Twomey’s batting was faultless retiring for 10 off 24 balls.

Brothers Phoenix and Xander Darlington shared in a partnership for the first time this season, both putting great value on their wickets. Davenport was given the opportunity to bat on past the usual retirement point with the aid of Killeen to see the Muddies score to a respectable 81 from 27 overs.

The ever reliable opening bowling pair Deuble (2/12) and Doble (0/3) kept Mareeba’s runs in check. Brothers Curtis (1/5) and Conner White (1/8) are showing more confidence in their bowling every week, each picking up a wicket.

Killeen rolled his arm over nicely to pick up 1/7 while Twomey (1/5) bowling from the other end logged a wicket maiden over. Stanaway (1/16) and X. Darlington (1/9) both chalked up their first ever wickets late in the innings keeping Mareeba to their lowest total this season 9/119 off 27 overs.

Our Under 12s are really coming together as a team. The boys played with great enthusiasm never giving up and taking a wicket off the last ball of the innings. Well done boys.
