What will Palmer do?

Billionaire mining magnate Clive Palmer has inspected Sea Temple Golf Club, with the outspoken businessman being touted as a potential buyer of the property.

The Newsport has been made aware that Mr Palmer yesterday viewed the facilities from a helicopter, before landing at the course with three associates in tow.

News of Mr Palmer's arrival in Port Douglas coincides with the recent announcement that Juniper, the development company who currently owns Sea Temple Golf Club and Port Douglas resort Coconut Grove, have had their 77-storey 'Soul Tower' on the Gold Coast placed into receivership.

In a statement from appointed receivers, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Soul's downfall will not affect other Juniper-owned properties.

"The appointment of Receivers and Managers is restricted to the Soul development only and does not affect any other properties or assets. In particular, the Sea Temple hotel operation is not impacted by this appointment."

Mr Palmer's name was linked with the recent Sheraton Mirage sale, but it is rumoured his particular interest was the Mirage Country Club which includes the 18-hole resort course.

Goldcoast.com.au reported in July this year that Mr Palmer had purchased The Colonial and Robina Woods golf courses after they went into receivership, changing their names to Palmer Colonial and Palmer Gold Coast respectively.
