Collyer quits

Council's Regional Manager for Douglas, Liz Collyer, has tendered her resignation with the senior Council officer reportedly announcing her decision to councillors on Friday.

Ms Collyer took the position at the beginning of 2011 after two years at Cairns Regional Council, at the time saying community engagement was top of the list of her priorities.

During her tenure she was involved in the community consultation process of the Port Douglas Esplanade upgrade and the controversial Port Douglas lagoon project.

On the issue of Ms Collyer's replacement, Mayor Bob Manning told Radio Port Douglas yesterday morning: "I would expect what the CEO will be doing is looking at the management organisational arrangements that are in place in the former Douglas Shire, and pending the ultimate outcome in terms of the deamalgamation issue, to be in a position then, if we remain amalgamated, to be able to implement a similar or a revised management arrangement within that area."
