Christmas card comp now on
Mayor Bob Manning has called on creative young artists in the region to design Cairns Regional Council’s 2012 Christmas e-card.
Children from the Cairns Regional Council local government area were invited to draw and submit their ideas when the competition was launched at Parramatta State School on Friday.
“The 2012 competition theme is ‘Christmas in the Tropics’. We want to have a digital greeting card that reflects the wonderful tropical environment we live in,” Cr Manning said.
“E-cards are the most environmentally friendly way to deliver Christmas greetings and the most efficient to deliver.
“We receive many great entries each year from talented young artists and I’m looking forward to seeing what the students have to offer in 2012.”
Council is calling on all primary school children up to the age of 13 to submit designs for this year’s greeting card.
Council will award great prizes for the best entries and will use the winning design on its signature Christmas e-card.
Competition forms are available from any branch of Cairns Libraries, Customer Service Centres and online at www.cairns.qld.gov.au. Entries close Monday 26 November.
