Young Guns shoot down Cougars

Fourth round of the competition saw the Young Guns continue their winning streak defeating the Central Cougars 25 – 21.

This game was very high quality from start to finish with great contests between shooters and defenders in both goal circles. Best and fairest players of the game were awarded to the Goal Defender from each team, Kelly King from Cougars and Angela Marotta from the Young Guns.

The Crocs 1 team had a close game against Rattle N Hum and took the game 17 – 12. Rattle N Hum’s Goal Attack, Zara Ryan, had a great game with very good shooting accuracy and was awarded one of the game’s best and fairest player awards.

Crocs' defender, Sarah Pegler-Bumstead also had a great game doing her best to keep her opponents out of the game, also being awarded one of the game’s best and fairest players.

Cheap, easy, and lasts longer. Check out The Newsport Classifieds.

In the second division the Crocs 2 team continued the Crocs' dominance defeating the Gunnars 16 – 7.

Defence in the goal circle in both ends was very tight with all shooters having trouble getting the ball through the hoop. However Gunnars' shooter, Casey Kemp, and Crocs' wing defence, Natalie Casho, were both awarded best and fairest players of the game.

Also in the second division the young Jets defeated the Ringers 23 – 7. The Jets started off very strong and shooters from both teams were chosen and players of the game. Congratulations to Jets' shooter, Grace Walker, and Ringers' shooter, Alex H.

The young Under 14 Rep Team had a tough game but held off Bits & Pieces with a win of 17 – 14.

Both teams were only one point apart by the end of the third quarter but the Rep Team managed to gain two on the Pieces to secure the win. Under 14’s wing defender, Elisha M, and Bits & Pieces centre, Hiromi Wall, were both awarded player of the game.

Lastly, the Breakers had another disappointing loss, this week the Wolverines defeated them 34 – 2.

The completely new Breakers team must be congratulated on the efforts every week with all players being new to the sport. Special congratulations this week to Breakers' centre, Kiara Lomas who stood out and Wolverines' shooter, Jade Jardine, who both received player of the game.
