Woman stolen from home

Mandy Stone's move from Wangetti to Port Douglas has not started well after property was stolen from her home during her relocation.

Ms Stone, who is taking a hiatus from her role as the general manager of the Port Douglas Neighbourhood Centre, said a mosaic she had made at a particularly difficult time of her life was taken.

"I put a mosaic (of a) woman I had made in the fenced pool area of the new house before we actually moved in thinking she would be safe as she had been in Wangetti for two years.

"Someone decided that they were entitled to my mosaic more than me and that saddens me," Ms Stone said.

She said that her creation carries a strong sentimental value and is calling on the culprit to return the item.

"I made that mosaic women as a tribute to my partner who was battling breast cancer at the time. It took me many months, and many friends contributed to the making of her.

"I would dearly love her back in our garden where she belongs.

"I encourage the person who has her to drop her off at the Port Douglas Neighbourhood Centre and no questions will be asked."
