Win puts Meth on cloud nine

Mossman Golf Club hosted a charity day on Sunday 29 April for 72 players enjoying an ambrose event to benefit St Augustines School.
Of special note were the groups in fancy dress, and every participant went home with a prize. Organiser Mark Geddes in the “Invincibles” red lycra wished to “Spank the sponsors.”
The Club is hosting clinics each Tuesday from 5pm to 6pm for Juniors, and all youngsters aged 6 to 17 are invited to come along. Please call Geoff Goodwin for further details on 0418 456 901.
A field of 33 men competed in Tuesday’s Stableford event. The winner was Ian Johnson with 41 points, second place Kym Rowley with 37 points on a count-back to George Page. Nearest the pins went to Broz Jurie on 8, Ian Steley on 13 and Peter Lewis on 17.
The winner of Wednesday’s nine hole event was Maurie Meth, victorious for the second week in a row. Nearest the pins were Ian Mead and Shona Barbour.
The Anzac holiday encouraged 21 players to enjoy the Stableford Competition. The winner was Patti Graham with 37 points, second was Keith Gard with 35 points and third was John Cameron with 33 points.

Thursday’s Ladies Par event was won by Bette Wells with + 3, while second place went to Christie Bouwkamp with -2 and third place Leonie Phillips with – 5 on a count-back to Julie Hooker.
Nearest the pins were Katie Brims on 6, Judy Onto on 8 and 10 and Kerri-Lynn Williams on 13.
The Saturday Men’s Stableford event was won by Wilson Christensen with 39 points. Second place was Bill Allison with 37 points on a count-back to Tony Hirst. Nearest the pins were Ian Steley on 6, Mick Lancaster on 8, Barry Rouse on 13 and Bill Allison on 17.
The Ladies Saturday winner was Annette Tidswell with 38 points, second place Bev Cowe with 36 points and third place Shona Barbour with 33 points on a count-back to Kim Edwards. Nearest the pins were Bev Cowe on 6 and 8, Katie Brims on 13 and Shona on 17.
