Victory sweet for Apples

Douglas Junior Netball started on Court 1 with the 10/Under Pythons playing the Wildcatz.

The Pythons were fast paced - Koreena Miniecon and Hannah Durie were unstoppable from the start to finish.  Jordan Scott for the Wildcatz did her best to get past the Pythons' defence showing her speed and skills in the goal circle, and Kate Padovan covered the court outdoing the Pythons' defence with her great skills.

McKenzie Booth moved into GS and proved to be at home in the goal circle for the Wildcatz.  The game was fast and fun with the girls really proving the skills they are learning.

Final score Pythons 11 def Wildcatz 1.

The Net Set Go girls played the Gladiators in windy conditions and both teams had lots of goal shooting attempts and attacking passes in the centre court.

Both teams played well in a very friendly game based on learning skills, with best players Edie Thurtell, Alex Brown, Carla Young and Jenna Kerswell.

Final score Gladiators 2 def. Net Set Go 1.

The 12/Under competition started with the Diamonds playing the Red Hot Peppers, and the Diamonds played a fantastic game of netball.

The whole team competed well all over the court with Kyah Francis impressing both umpires and the opposition gaining player's choice and best and fairest for the day.

The Peppers defended well with Shamia excellent making space and gaining intercepts and Kiara-Mae Gaddes also upsetting the Diamonds' surge to goal on many occasions.

Final score Diamonds 22 def. Peppers 1.

On Court 2 the Miallo Allstars played the Poison Apples in a close game with good defending by both teams.

Fantastic attacking by Anndria Santa-Cruz and Ebony Schonenberger for the Allstars and for the Apples Tiah McLean was all over the court providing plenty of opportunities to get the ball down to the goals and Ella Dodds played a brilliant defensive game.

Final score Apples 7 def. Allstars 6.

The 14-16 comp saw the Vipers play the Sapphires in a fast paced game with only one point the difference after the first quarter.

Unfortunately for the Sapphires, the Vipers defence was on fire with Saisha Schonenberger GD, Tayler Durie WA and Jess Eagle-Rowe GD.  The Sapphires shooters Holly Brown and Dakota Bowen shot accurately but due to the great defence were not given the opportunity.

In the last quarter Jeorgia Westgate shot five goals to see the Vipers winning 15 to 5.

The Rep 12s played the Breakers in a close game with tight defence from the 12s Keely Harold and Cartier Bennett that kept the Breakers goal count down.

Matilda Mellows and Lana Baxter worked hard in the centre third to support Kyah Francis who shot consistently.  The Breakers outstanding players were Lucy Webster, Jessica Viola and Courtney Day persistently fighting back, but the Reps were too strong taking the game 8-3.

The Fusion played the Dynamite in what started as a neck and neck game with Dynamite shooting 6-4 in the first quarter and then ending up one goal down by half time.

The Dynamite's defence was excellent with Megan Von Keyserlingk continuing her great form and Eleisha Mealing always consistent.  For the Fusion, Rae Page played well in centre and Elle Kadwell great in attack.

Dynamite ran away with the game in the second half with a final score 20-14.

Thanks to our Junior Umpires Saisha Schonenberger, Cartier Bennett, Keeley Harold, Tiah McLean, Zara Ryan, Shannon Lincoln, Karla Logan, Grace Walker, Rochelle Miller, Kahlee Tesch, Maddy Weaver, Holly Brown.  Also a very big thank you to the match reporters, fantastic effort!
