That's a rap!

Patricia Andrews is making a name for herself after her photographs were spotted on The Newsport's Best Photo Competition.

Leigh Waldron is a rapper from Cairns who spotted Patricia's work and was so impressed by it he enlisted her to create his new album's artwork.

"He saw my photos in the (Best Photo) competition and contacted me and said he's releasing a new album and approached me about doing the front and back cover, as well as promo work for him," Patricia said.

She will travel to Cairns from her home in Innisfail to photograph Waldron's gigs.

In addition to this welcome offer, Patricia's photographs have also been spotted by Mums who are keen to be photographed for Mother's Day.

"I've picked up (work) from some other girls that are pregnant. They've contacted me and on Mother's Day they'll be coming to Innisfail to have a photo shoot," she said.

Due to her success in The Newsport's Best Photo Competition, Patricia, a self-taught photographer, is looking to take the next step in her development creating a 'Opens external link in new windowCassowary Photographics' facebook page.

After winning the March competition Patricia is looking to update her small Nikon camera to something befitting a fledgling professional, using her Garricks Camera House first prize voucher and cash to upgrade her equipment.

"The competition has helped me to get myself out there. People see it, friends of friends are sharing it. People are saying to me 'When is voting open?'

Voting for the Most Popular photo of April is open now so check out Patricia's work along with that of dozens of other avid photographers.

If you'd like to enter the competition, check out the Best Photo Competition page.
