Dimbulah sink Dragons' seconds

As the final whistle blew last Friday night, the Douglas players would have felt a sense of deja vu as another game went by without the win. But once again it was accompanied by a performance that could have got one.

The game started well for Douglas who had a fair share of the ball early on with some dangerous crossing coming in from the left hand side. But no one was able to get on the end of the deliveries into the box.

The game had a very slow tempo with neither team seemingly wanting to push the pace. Around the twenty minute mark a lack of urgency from the Douglas midfield saw a Dimbulah player rifle one in from twenty five yards to put the home side 1-0 up.

Shortly after this Douglas player/coach James Turner who was enjoying some successful runs at the Dimbulah right back went into a tackle which would unfortunately end his game and maybe his season.
It was a night of hurt for Douglas who also lost Captain Kane Kerswell along with four other players to injury.

It was not long before Dimbulah struck again, with a high class finish from well outside the box once again. Going in 2-0 down at half time and already collecting some injuries Douglas knew what awaited them was a massive uphill battle.

But straight from the start of the second half Douglas upped the tempo and took complete control of the game running it from front to back and pressuring all over the field. Knowing if this was a level they could keep then they could get right back in the game.

With the Douglas pressure and possession something started to stare Douglas in the face, something that has been staring them in the face all season - the lack of a goal scorer.

Every part of the Douglas game was good enough to get goals in this game apart from that most important missing part, the player who was going to get them.

As time went by Douglas could only feel happy about the fact they had controlled and dominated the entire second half, but again heads kept looking around the field in search for the man who would put the ball in the net. The goal would not come for Douglas and they would lose 2-0.

With injury problems and the lack of goals for the Douglas side, they will be happy to know they have the next two fixtures at home against sides that are just below them.

For any chance of this season to hold some glory at the end of it, these two games are quite simply must wins.

Game 9 of the season will be against Marlin Coast at Cassowary park tonight with an 8pm kick off.
