Big wins for Junior Sharks
Under 7s
This week the Under 7s played two exciting games against Suburbs' teams at home. In both games the boys came away with a win.
Try scorers on the day were Jack Hatfield, David Neller (3), Matthias Jackonia and Wyatt Lourigan (2). Man of the Match was awarded to Jack Hatfield for a great effort in attack and defence and the Coach’s Award was well deserved by E.J. Bowen for having the heart to take on tackling boys twice his size.
Well done to the all of the boys for playing hard as a team and backing each other up! These little Sharkies are really starting to play some skilful football, even at their young age.
Under 9s
The Mighty Mossman under 9s played controlled footy on the weekend for thirty minutes. We tackled our hearts out and ran the football up hard in attack.
It was only small lapses of concentration and effort that let us down at times. By chasing and running down the opposition and preventing a certain try Acasia Bowen pulled off the tackle of the day.
Acasia also has amazing speed which she put to good use running around the opposition on more than one occasion. Heath Duncan involved himself in the game by having some great runs and tackling hard when the opposition ran at him.
We still have a couple of players who could put a bit more of an effort in which the coach will work with on Thursday training. The man of the match award has a bit of a twist this week going to Acasia Bowen.
With a bit more commitment from the players on game day we are not far away from a win.
Under 11s
The Under 11s had a hard fought 18-0 win. With the local boys continually turning over balls and not completing sets they made it hard for themselves.
They gave the opposition plenty of chances but their defensive line held firm, led by lock forward Lachlan Buzza with his nonstop defensive effort and team mates staying in defensive corridors.
Man of the match Keton Morris again showed improvement with forward straight runs. Billy Kadwell's hit ups and defence was impressive as was Tom Walker's. These boys give 100% every time they run on the field.
Coach's mention to Lamar Enoch whose move back to the wing was to his liking running off Zeklyn Grogan Ryan’s side. Special mention of thanks from the coach, Billy Adams to Bronson Ryan Jnr for sitting on the bench and making an impact when taking the field.
Try scorers for this game were Kyle Solomon (1) Tom Walker (1) and Bronson Ryan Jnr (1). Conversions were made by Kyle Solomon (1), Zeklyn Grogan Ryan (1). Well done boys.
Under 12s
The Under 12 boys had a great start to the first half with their attack and defence line leading 10-0 at half time. The second half saw the boys continue with their big efforts keeping Suburbs scoreless and bringing them home with another great win 28-0.
Thank you to the Under 11s who stepped up for us. Try scorers this week were Xavian Pitt (1), Austin Tayley (2), Tom Walker (2) and Lennox Schonenberger (1). Conversions were made by Trazane Cobb (1), Cody Port (1). Man of the match went to Cody Port and coaches award went to Trazane Cobb.
Under 13
The Under 13s started out against Southern Suburbs in a lacklustre fashion with too many errors keeping the game within reach of the visitors at halftime.
After the break though, the boys started to control the ball and put the foot down to run away with the match 28-4. The man of the match and players' player award went to a very much improved Aaron Dunwell.
Try scorers for this game were Dean McCarthy (1), Dylan Sorensen (1), Tom Allen (1), Lachlan Wilson (1), and Wayne Oui (1). Conversions were made by Aaron Dunwell (2), Tully Cartwright (1) and Tom Allen (1). Well done boys.
