Atherton too good in pennant
Men’s Results
Mossman Memorial Bowls Club hosted the B Grade pennants championship over the weekend with all teams enjoying some excellent competition.
Atherton were the overall winners with 8 match points closely followed by Mossman with 7 match points. Mossman were holding their own until the last match were they were ahead by 4 margin points but Atherton proved to be too good and took out the final match.
Players for Mossman were: Team 1 - C Maxted, R Ashford, K Pitt and R Williamson, and Team 2 - T Brylack, Kiwi Beaumont, G Bolton and G Marsh.
Next week will be Jackpot Social Bowls as usual with registrations closing at 12.30 for a 1.30 start.
Club championship competitions for Saturday will be J Hocking (sub), Dick Pitt, C Pitt and E Pitt vs T Brylack, J Girgenti, J Sellars and S Parkes in the fours. K Pitt and S Chatterton vs P Cleary and R Edwards, Zilly and L Valentine vs Doug Pitt and R Ashford in the pairs.
On Sunday, A Grade singles will see c Maxted vs S Jellis. In B Grade G Bolton takes on S Parkes.
Ladies Results
In a closely fought tussle Janice Brlyack came from behind to win the 2012 Championship singles by defeating Margaret Cooper 25 to 24. Congratulations to Janice.
In the 2012 Consistency Val Robinson (152) defeated Judy Mitchell (108), Bev Zillfleisch (150) defeated Carole Maxted (118). Maria Mijo (154) defeated Glenn Lepp (146). Further games will be played after pennant practice.
Social bowls was also played and winners were Denise Highland’s team of Bev Zillfleish and Val Robinson. The thrilled raffle winner was Estelle O’Rourke.
