Two more sleeps for Crocs
Yes, at long last it's time to unleash our teams for the first game of 2012.
This Saturday we take on North Cairns at Watson Oval. Reserves kick off at 1pm and Seniors at 3pm so try and make the trip to show your support in 2012. I think the team will surprise you with the quality of players we have available.
Last Saturday saw the boys travel to Centrals for a practice match and Coops and Jim were very happy with what they saw. We had 10 players unavailable and still had a healthy 60 point win.
Last Sunday we held our 200 Club sign on and sponsors day which was a successful day regardless of around 20 confirmed people not attending. A special thanks to Nathan and his crew from Ramada Resort for the day.
It was great to see Sladey back in town and no surprise he won the major prize in the raffle (some things never change).
This Thursday we have the funeral of Graeme Elliott, one of our most decorated junior players and exciting senior player. The funeral will be at the Catholic Church 11am (next to Port Douglas State School) and followed by a wake at the clubrooms.
We have offered Gary and Karen to supply and make sandwiches and some hot snacks tea coffee and beers. Special thanks to Scotty and IGA for their assistance.
If you can assist in this we will be at the club 9am Thursday morning. All players and supporters are asked to wear their football shirts at the service.
Cheap, easy, and lasts longer. Check out The Newsport Classifieds.
On a happier note, Thursday night is our jumper presentation night. The majority of our local past players will be attending to present the players with their jumpers. Please try and attend as we want to kick the season off with a bang.
Also, this year several of the players have asked us to try and attract more girls to training nights and have suggested cheap UDL's and vodka drinks and discount on their meals. Great idea and this will be introduced this Thursday.
If you have someone who you think would like to receive info from the club please sign them up on the Crocs website.
200 club membership will be available this Thursday. We have reduced the cost to $250 for a member and their guest. It is a lot of fun and a great way to promote your business in a relaxed atmosphere.
Also the players are chasing photo sponsorship which costs $100 per player so please see John Cameron regarding this. Sponsors of the top three in the B&F seniors and reserves will win great prizes this year.
Finally, we need assistance in the canteen this year. If you can spare one or two hours at our home games over the year it would be a great help. Please contact Margee at IGA or myself on 0408 985 372.
Go the Crocs!
