State Election Polling places

In case you haven’t noticed, this Saturday (March 24th 2012) is State Government election day and voting is compulsory.

There are 27,714 electors registered in the Cook electorate, with 13,935 being female and 13,779 being female.

 

If you haven’t placed an absentee or postal vote, here’s a list of places around the area where you can register your vote:

Port Douglas: Port Douglas Community Hall, Mowbray Street.

 

Mossman: Mossman State Pre-School, Front Street.

 

Daintree: Daintree River State School, Osborne Street.

 

Julatten: Julatten State School, 1141 Euluma Creek Road.

 

Mareeba: Mareeba State School, Constance Street, or Mareeba Hospital, 21 Lloyd Street.

 

Miallo: Miallo State School, Miallo Road.

 

Mount Molloy: Mount Molloy State School, Fraser Road.

 

Wonga Beach: Wonga Beach State School, Snapper Island Road.

 

Wujal Wujal: CDEP Offices, 1 Hartwig Street.

 

Cooktown: Cooktown State School, corner of May and Charles streets.

 

And a reminder – failure to vote attracts a fine of between $50 and $100, with the State Penalties Enforcement Registry (SPER) having the power to enforce payment, including the seizure of property and the suspension of driver’s licenses.
