Mossman and Port Douglas will be well represented at the Surf Life Saving State Championships commencing later this week.

A junior team has been selected to travel to Maroochydore and compete against the best nippers in the State with competition running from Friday through until Sunday.

Those competing from the Port Douglas Surf Life Saving Club include:

Under 11 - Mia Devine Cameron and Mitchell Knight
Under 12 - Harry Goodman
Under 13 - Finn Devine-Cameron, Simon Kramer, Eliza Markham, and Allison Munroe

The young athletes will compete in team and individual events and will need to perform in heats, quarter finals, and semi finals in order to make it through to the final.

While the program is intense, the nippers have been training and competing for the last 10 months so are well prepared for what's ahead.

The team will be accompanied by North Queensland Team Manager Brian Markham, as well as coaches Grant Knight, Louise Devine, John Goodman, and Colin Cameron.

Good luck to everyone involved!
