The Taipans are now in the hands of the 'hoop gods' as their playoff hopes now rest in the hands of other clubs.

After copping an absolute flogging over the Nullarbor on Sunday night the injury stricken Snakes now need to win their last two home games and hope Townsville and/or Gold Coast lose their remaining fixtures.

It's not an ideal situation but at least there is still hope. The locals have an easier run home but I must admit I am extremely nervous.

We face Sydney on Saturday night who are playing for pride and contracts next season and this is no shoe-in win. We then face a much improved Adelaide outfit.

Townsville face both ladder leaders, firstly against Perth and then New Zealand who have already snagged the minor premiership. This could mean the Kiwis might rest guys and not go hard for the 'W'.

With Townsville beating the Gold Coast on the weekend that may have all but ended our post season dreams but as long as we keep winning the hoop gods may still smile down upon us.

Our tall timber of Loughton and Crosswhite didn't play on the weekend and without them we looked like an ABA (second tier) side. The reality is if these guys aren't fit we will not be a factor in the playoffs anyway - a tough but fair assessment!

The Bulleen Boomers played off in the decider of the WNBL on Sunday but it wasn't good news for my former club.

The men’s competition has a rich history of whipping any team from Bendigo but the women have always seemed to struggle with Dandenong. The Rangers girls completely out smarted the Bulleen girls and thoroughly deserved the victory.

I also thought the Dandenong coach, Mark Wright, completely outcoached his counterpart in Tom Maher which nobody saw coming.

Bulleen have a mountain of a woman in Liz Cambage (6 ft 8 in by the old scale) and her teammates simply didn't feed her the ball.

Coach Maher, I'm sure, would have tried to get her in the games but all his advice to her wasn't heard as her head in the time outs was out of the roof of the stadium! That's one tall girl.

I bet Bulleen would love to have that one back but they will now have to wait 12 months.
