SLS Championship dates announced

Surf Life Saving Australia has announced the dates for the 2013 Australian Surf Life Saving Championships to be held at Kurrawa Beach next March.

The 2013 Aussies for Masters and Opens will be hosted by Kurrawa SLSC on the Gold Coast between March 18 and March 24, 2013.

The six-day event, supported by Events Queensland, will again attract over 7000 competitors to the Gold Coast for what will be one of the biggest sporting events in Australia.

"Surf lifesavers have an amazing affinity with the Aussies and next year will mark another milestone in our association with what has become a real hub for the Australian Championships over many years," said Surf Life Saving's General Manager Sport, Dave Thompson.

"We again look forward to bringing some of our finest young men and women from all over the country into the Gold Coast for another celebration of everything our movement stands for.

"Surf Life Saving is a wonderful tradition that has been going for over 100 years and to see the joy on people's faces when they arrive on the beach every day to compete is what it's all about."

The 2012 Australian Surf Life Saving Championships will be held at Kurrawa from March 26 to April 1 when the best of the best arrive on the Gold Coast chasing elusive gold, silver and bronze medals.

Events covering every facet of surf lifesaving from the traditional R and R and March Past to water, beach, lifesaving and boat events will see some of the world's finest lifesavers in action.
