The paradise of Low Isles will this month have new residents, with Wayne and Jenni Fox to be appointed by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (GBRMPA) as the Island's caretakers.

The pair spent seven years as managers of Lady Elliot Island Eco Resort in the southern Great Barrier Reef.

"We have a genuine passion for the natural environment, and we continue to be inspired by it every day," Ms Fox said.

"We're very excited about our new role as caretakers of Low Isles, and we are looking forward to meeting and working with all the stakeholders."

GBRMPA General Manager Andrew Skeat said the Low Isles caretakers would play a key role in maintaining the Island's natural values and infrastructure.

"Having someone on the ground to care for the Island's assets ensures that the natural values are maintained and the heritage listed buildings are preserved," Mr Skeat said.

"The caretakers will work closely with GBRMPA, Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service, volunteer groups such as the Low Isles Preservation Society and local tour operators.

"Low Isles is fortunate to have the support of a strong community to help maintain this precious island paradise that has become a local icon.

"I would like to sincerely thank the Low Isles Preservation Society volunteers and Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service for their efforts in caring for Low Isles while the tender process was underway.

"Wayne and Jenni have years of experience living and working on islands and I am confident that they will be a good fit for Low Isles."
