Junior Sharks kick off

Under 9s

The Mossman Under 9s played some amazing footy on the weekend.  Going in under manned with eight players turning up and dealing with an opposition who had nineteen players, our team displayed all the courage and skill that wearing a Sharks jersey means to our players.

Kysuan De-valence playing at Hooker was brilliant in directing the team around, Lafe Hatfield with excellent defence and barnstorming runs and the ever elusive Braxton Wienert with his darting runs and outstanding defence are a special mention.

The team finally went down to Suburbs four tries to two but Heath Duncan, Matthew Graves, Ethan Chesterfield, Michael Tayley and Lewis Duncan did Mossman very proud.

Under 11s

With only ten boys turning up on Saturday, the Under 11s first hit out of the year as a bit rusty but the local boys came out with a great win over Suburbs 38-12.

Man of the Match performance from Kyle Solomon who was playing his first game as a Sharks Junior was outstanding in attack and defence ending the game with 100% goal kicking display.

On a rain soaked and muddy ground others to impress were two other new Sharkies, Marley Brown and Jahmaine Fyfe.

The ever reliable core of the team laid the platform for the new boys to play footy.  Billy Adams would like to give a special thanks to Jenni and Tony for bring half the team down to the grounds.
Well done Under 11’s.

Under 15s

With the Under 14 and Under 15 Junior Sharks down on numbers at training recently, it was decided to combine the two teams and form one squad to compete in the Under 15 competition.

The boys have shown an outstanding attitude in their training sessions recently and were looking forward to their first hit out.

The Sharks ran on to a very wet ground, and from the kick off showed they meant business with front rowers Jaggar Ablett and Jake McCormack putting some very heavy hits on the Suburbs big boys.

The solid defence soon forced Suburbs to start dropping the ball, and when the Sharks got their first chance in attack Quinlan Cannon put a kick over the Suburbs defence and Levi Williams made a tough job look easy showing good hands to score the Sharks first points.

Suburbs hit back with a clever try of their own but the Sharks strong defence in the forwards was forcing Suburbs to throw the ball wide and continually dropped the ball in the wet conditions.

Quinlan and Jake Todd both scored before halftime making it 14-6 at the break.

The trend of the game continued in the second half with the Sharks defence proving too strong. The entire backline was outstanding, shutting down Suburbs attack and only allowing one try in the second half to the opposition.

The Sharks crossed for another three tries with Aiden Chesterfield, Jake McCormack and Josh Fasano each getting a try as a result of their hard running, making the full time score 30-10.

The boys had to work very hard for the win which was a great effort in wet conditions by the whole team, and a very promising start to the year.

Matthew Gladman played strongly in his first ever game of footy along with Doa Creek and Josh Fasano in the Forwards. Patrick and Quinlan formed a deadly halves combination and outside backs Jack Dickson, Jake Pendlebury and Tom Henley showed no fear of the opposition taking on the play at every opportunity.

Man of the match went to Quinlan Cannon for his effort in both attack and defence.
