Port Douglas Crocs vs Manunda Hawks
Final Scores: Hawks 10-5-65 def Crocs 6-4-40
Goal Kickers: Zac 2, and 1 each to Jake, Aiden, Chasely and Amani
Friday night saw another courageous performance from all the boys as they battled a much taller opponent in the Hawks.
In last week’s game against the Bulldogs we faded out in the second half but this week, following a big week on the training track, we toughed the game out right to the end.
Lead by Charlie Williams in the middle and some great ruck work from Connor we made many forward advances with Zac Stewart bobbing up with two good goals.
Often out-manned in the back line, Eathan McCullough was outstanding, repelling attack after attack from the Hawks. I’m sure that with the improvement we have shown so far a win won’t be far away.
Other great performances came from Chasely, Aiden, Quinlon and Brett.

UNDER 14
The Under 14s had a decisive win over an undermanned Cairns North team on Sunday and had to supply four players per quarter to Norths to ensure a fair game could be played.
In trying, wet, and greasy conditions Port showed some great ball skills playing an open running and passing game of footy. Their accurate short passing and handballs opened up many end to end attacking raids on goal.
Showing a lot of maturity for a young side, they followed the game plan well playing down the corridor and not getting caught out wide.
It is great to see the boys willing to run and work hard for each other in both attack and defence making this win a big all-round team effort. With continued commitment to each other in this area and at training they will develop into a very skilful and competitive side in this competition.
Captain Giles Hanley lead by example in every way to be best on ground and the Dixon brothers were unstoppable, Jack from half back was very solid and used his long, penetrating kick to set up a lot of attacks while Angus on the ball was everywhere and was rewarded with two goals for his efforts.
Jack Laurin played well at full forward sneaking in four goals. Newcomer Ben Shrimpton also show himself to be an exciting addition to the team with many possessions. Jarrah Wren showed good hands with some nice overhead marks accurate kicking into the forward line.
Final score: Crocs 13.15.93 def Norths 1.3.9
Awards: Giles Hanley, Ben Shrimpton and Brady Stewart.
Goal Kickers: Jack Laurin 4, Brady Stewart 2, Angus Dixon 2, Brent Davidson, Tom Doodall, Hugo Walker, Jack Samson and Giles Hanley all kicked 1.

Port Douglas Crocs vs Centrals Blue
In wet conditions the Under 12 boys displayed considerable grit and determination against an experienced Centrals Blue team.
The first quarter was a hard fought affair with neither team able to dominate the play. Daniel Davidson impressed as his speed and agility allowed him to find space, ultimately being rewarded with a goal just minutes before the siren sounded.
In only their second match for the season the Port Douglas Crocs demonstrated that they are a formidable team that will certainly enjoy some success throughout the football season.
By the final stages of the last quarter the Cairns Centrals experience showed through as they kicked a couple of late goals to seal a hard fought, low scoring game.
Best players: Ben Muia, Daniel Davidson, Charlie Burns.
Under 10
It was a good home game played in steamy conditions for the Under 10s this week against North Cairns.
All Crocs members played defensively against the visitors who provided great competition. A spectacular mark by Geneva Gilbert and hard work by the whole team helped us get four goals through the big sticks.
Goal kickers: Anthony Long (1), and Dean Laurence (3).
Award winners: Geneva Gilbert, Dean Laurence, Casey West and Team Medal went to Scott Cooper.

UNDER 8
In front of a enthusiastic Sunday morning crowd the mighty Port Douglas Under 8 Crocs were keen to hit the ground running and putting up a strong performance for their first home game at the Croc pit for 2012 – and they didn’t disappoint!
Lead magnificently by game day captain Daniel “Ling“ Harrington, and the excellent first quarter defence of first game player Tam, both rebounded beautifully to prevent many North Cairns attacks.
Two of the youngest and smallest Crocs in Ethan "Betts” Scott and Hayden “Weightman” Caswell again backed up with strong performances both kicking their first ever goals in AFL, much to the delight of the home crowd.
When moved forward Sam “Fevola” Wall was on fire and was assisted by the ever-improving Angus "Brown" Van Rooyen who competed well all day in various positions.
Courageous Kai “Selwood” Durie provided many unselfish acts throughout the game, continuing shearing the ball around with many linking handballs.
