Corrie, Twomey star in Muddies thriller
Under 12 Douglas Muddies played an extremely close match on Saturday against Tolganators at Mt Molloy. Captain Vincent Killeen won the toss and the Muddies team elected to bowl and field first.
Opening bowlers were Levi Trewick and Hugo Corrie. Nathan Deuble took the first wicket of the match assisted by a catch from Hugo.
Luke Twomey took the most wickets with 2-6 off 2 overs with both wickets taken as catches by Hugo who achieved a total of 3 catches for the match.
Other wicket takers were Raine Sorensen 1-7, Nathan 1-10, Ryan Doble 1-11, Vincent 1-13 and Daniel Davidson 1-17 off 3.
Coach Lee Sorensen told the boys at the end of the match that he was very impressed with their improvement in bowling producing economic overs reducing the sundries by half compared to the opposition team.
Keel Sorensen bowled 0-2 off 4 overs with 2 maidens, Levi 0-5 off 3 with a maiden, Reuben Allison 0-7, Hugo 0-9 and Tully Cartwright 0-9. Catches were also taken by Daniel (2) and Ryan.
Keel and Luke also made a run out each with Tolganators finishing their 27 overs at 9/103.
Levi and Nathan opened the batting retiring on 1 and 9 respectively. Tully retired on 7, Hugo top scored not out on 18 from 15 balls and Reuben retired on 9.
Levi returned to bat joining Hugo for the last over where Levi hit a great 6 from the second last ball.
The scorers then informed both teams that the Muddies needed 6 runs off the last ball to win.
Levi then proceeded to hit another great 6 taking the Muddies score to 5/104 winning the match by just 1 run. Levi made 15 off 17 balls.
