Magnificent weather has encouraged plenty of southern visitors and members to enjoy the course at Mossman Golf Club, with Club Championships held over two weekends.

A field of 51 men competed in Tuesday’s Beach Terraces Monthly Medal event. The winner was Art Howard with a nett 68, second place was Jock O’Kane with a nett 69 and third place Laurie Prosser with a nett 70 on a count-back to Jeff Murrayl. 

Nearest the pins went to Bill Allison on 6, Matty Gray on 8, Wayne Soxsmith on 10, Ian Prewett on 13 and Don Mills on 17.

The winner of Wednesday’s nine hole event was Kerri-Lynn Williams, with second place Bob Laybutt. Nearest the pins were Barry Costain and Lucy Giles.

On Thursday, 21 ladies competed in the Lucy Giles Monthly Medal, and the winner was Kerri-Lynn Williams with a nett 72.  Second place was Trish Landy with a nett 74 on a count-back to Sandra Prien.

Nearest the pins – Glenda Christensen on 6 & 13, Sandra on 8, Julie Hooker on 10 and Christie Bouwkamp on 17. Helen Gabour won the putting competition.

The Friday Frolic special is proving a great hit with social players (9 holes of golf, shared motor buggy and shared 6 pack in ice for $30 per player).  In addition, players with a handicap can enter the nine hole competition, and the winner was Reece Nesbitt.

The Club Championships commenced on Saturday with great fields.

A Grade gross  Peter Chrisfield 76,  AGrade nett Charlie Kadic 72.
B Grade gross Sy Dolphin 76, B Grade nett Sy Dolphin 65.
C Grade gross Norm Lockwood 91, C Grade nett  Russell Hooker 69.
Nearest the pins – James Browne on 6, Sy Dolphin on 8, Mick Lancaster on 10, Brett Jurie on 13 and David Budge on 17.

Ladies’ results – Saturday winners
Div I gross  Bev Cowe 90,  A Grade nett  Bev Cowe 71.
Div II gross Gayle Healey 99 on a count-back to Julie Hooker.
Div III gross Leonie Phillips.   Div II & III  nett  A Dobbelaar 70.
Nearest the pins were N Anniwell on 6, Pris Freeman on 8, Bev on 10 and Christie Bouwkamp on 13.

Men’s results – Sunday winners
A Grade gross  Peter Chrisfield 68,  A Grade nett  Peter Chrisfield 67.
B Grade gross Brett Deuble 81, B Grade nett John Deuble 70.
C Grade gross Steve Warden 90, C Grade nett  Steve Warden 72.
Nearest the pins – Dan Coulthard on 6, George Page on 8, Ian Prewett on 10, Matty Gray on 13 and Charlie Kadic on 17.

Div I gross  Bev Cowe 89,  A Grade nett  Bev Cowe 70.
Div II gross Julie Hooker 97.
Div III gross Leonie Phillips. Div II and III nett Julie Hooker 72.
Nearest the pins were Kerri-Lynn Williams on 6, Jenny Rowell on 8 and 13, Shona Barbour on 10 and Tracey Benham on 17.
