Reps push Fusion

10 Under

Douglas Junior Netball started with the 10/Under competition playing on court 1, the Wildcatz against the Pythons.

The Pythons took an early lead with Koreena Minniecon scoring a goal in the first few minutes. This was followed by several missed attempts by both teams.

Hannah Durie and Tahyla Cadiente moved the ball well down the court and Hannah made several intercepts for the Pythons. The Wildcatz took the lead in the second and third quarters with excellent shooting from MacKenzie Booth and Jay Heidke.

Jasmine Dodds played an excellent game in centre together with Stella Burnett and Nataya Bowen.  Congratulations to the best and fairest Libby Buzza and MacKenzie Booth.

Final score Wildcatz 3 def. Pythons 1.

The Gladiators played the Net Set Go girls on Court 2 but score sheet was not handed in.

12 Under

The 12/Under competition was played on Court 1 at 4.40pm with the Diamonds playing the Red Hot Peppers.

Both teams took a while to settle into their positions.  The Diamonds put on pressure all over the court with strong defence by Mia Devine-Cameron turning the ball around at every opportunity and Jasmine Kirk proved to be a valuable player in both WD and GS.

For the Peppers, Faith Kempster played a good attacking game and Keeley Harold worked hard in defence.

The final score Diamonds 19 def. the Peppers 1.

The Poison Apples played the Miallo Allstars on Court 2. The game was fast and well contested, with the Apples and Allstars both having the same attempts at goal in the first half which was very entertaining to watch, and both teams were very evenly matched.

Ella Dodds put in a fantastic game for the Apples and Jenna Kerswell continued her great form for the Allstars.

Final score Apples 12 def. Allstars 6.

14-16 Under

The 14-16/Under competition started on Court 1 with the Dynamite playing the Sapphires. The Dynamites came out to play showing great court work and excellent skills, they were strong from the first whistle and they did not slow until the final siren.

The Sapphires defended well and made many attempts to turn the ball over. Brittaney Bowen played well for the Sapphires and Simone Pringle stood out for the Dynamites.

Final score Dynamite 36 def. Sapphires 1.

Court 2 saw the Young Fusion play the 12/Under Rep team in a very close game. The Fusion team is made up of 13 year old players and one older player from the Jets.

The possession was equal throughout with the outstanding player for the Fusion team being Rachael Goodwin.

For the 12 Reps, Kyah Francis and Piper Adams showed fantastic shooting and Tiah McLean and Keeley Harold shone in defence.

Final scores Fusion 23 def. Reps 18.

The Vipers played the Breakers on Court 3, and the Vipers played well against the Breakers with plenty of pace and accurate passing which gave them many opportunities at goal.

The Breakers' defence was excellent against the older side. Tyler Mous was excellent and Shannon Lincoln was ever dependable.  The Vipers, with new player Nikia Stewart playing well in attack, came away with the win 13 defeating the Breakers 2.

Thanks to umpires Bonnie and Kyah Francis, Maddy Weaver, Holly brown, Marley Cairns, Eleisha Mealing, Tayler Durie. Saisha Schonenberger, Vanessa Wood, Meg Goodall and Grace Walker.
