Friday night saw a game between Douglas united and JCU in the FNQ football third division at JCU. The game would be dominated mostly by Douglas who would leave with the win which would make it five wins in a row and get them off to the perfect start in the new third division.
 
The game started well for Douglas who had seen a lot of the ball early on. It was the possession and pressure that would lead to the first goal.

Ross Hardie in the Douglas midfield played a ball to Douglas striker Glenn Johnson who would glide past three JCU defenders before sending the keeper in the wrong direction to cap a great individual goal.

At the age of 40 Glenn is showing no signs of slowing down with goals of this calibre.
 
Douglas would then go close with a long range effort from Ashley Woods, the keeper having to scramble across his goal line to just make it in time to knock the ball out for a corner.

A few corners later Douglas would get a second goal after Kane Kerswell climbed well at the back post to head the ball back across goal for his second headed goal from a corner this season.

The teams would go in at the half 2-0 Douglas.
 
The second half did not have many chances for either team. JCU had been struggling to penetrate the Douglas defence in any kind of fashion and began to look very frustrated at the way the game was going as they tried numerous ways to get a foot hold back in the game, but none of them getting any visible results.
 
One man that can seemingly do little wrong for Douglas right now is Adam Wright who is finding the back of the net for Douglas pretty much every time he plays.

Yet again Adam would not disappoint. Picking the ball up 40 yards from goal he ran clean through and finished very well with the outside of his foot for 3-0 Douglas.
 
A moment that will be best forgotten for Douglas and an area that may need some work is attacking free kicks. On this occasion the responsibility fell to Joe Fox who hit a cross that left everyone scratching their head including Joe himself as it went high and wide at a very slow pace.
 
The 'Paddy's Irish Bar' Man of the Match award went to Heath Melton who has been playing keeper for Douglas for a number of weeks now and although he did not have to much to deal with in this game he was once again solid and kept another clean sheet.
 
Douglas would win the game 3-0 and they are really starting to feel some serious momentum heading into the next game as they see no reason why the cannot make it seven wins in a row when they take on Southside at home this coming Friday night.
