Holes in one at Mossman

Congratulations go to two members of the Mossman Golf Club who have recently achieved one of the most desired shots in golf, a hole in one on a par 3. 

Firstly on Sunday 17 June, Bill Everingham holed out on 174m par 3 17th, and then on Wednesday 20 June, veteran Sammy Brichetto holed out on 142m par 3 13th.

There are plenty of members and visitors enjoying the perfect conditions and trying to be make it happen a third time.

Tuesday’s field of 48 players competed in a Stableford event which was won by Lloyd Redpath with 40 points on a count-back to Wayne Dowell.  Leon Baker was third with 39 points, while nearest the pins were G Muter on 8 and Ian Steley on 13 and 17.

The winner of Wednesday’s nine hole event was Sammy Brichetto with 22 points, including the hole in one eagle.  Second place was N Foard on a count-back to Tano Caltabiano. Nearest the pins were Shona Barbour on 10, and Sammy on 13.

Thursday’s Ladies Stableford event was won by Helen Gabour with 37 points.  Second place was Kerri-Lynn Williams and third Bev Cowe. Nearest the pins went to Lucy Giles on 8, Kerri-Lynn on 10, Shona Barbour on 13 and Treveen Page on 17.

The new special Friday Frolic (9 holes golf, shared motorised buggy and 6 pack in ice to share for $30 per player) was enjoyed by plenty of social players.  For players with handicaps, the competition was won by Matt Smith with 19 points for nine holes.

Saturday’s Stableford event was won by Vic Dowler with 39 points on a count-back to Mick Dowling and Kevin Robson. Nearest the pins were E Kerr on 6, Mick Lancaster on 8, G Mitchell on 10, James Doolah 13 and Laurie Prosser on 17.

The ladies also enjoyed a Stableford event with winner Glenda Christensen having 36 points, and runner-up Sandra Prien with 31 points. Sandra took out the pin shots on holes 6 and 10.

A number of visitors enjoyed the competition on Sunday, and Andrew Whittaker was victorious with 38 points on a count-back to Julie Hooker.  Jeff Bochow took out third place with 35 points on a count-back to Wayne Baxter.

Nearest the pins were Kerri-Lynn Williams with a great shot to 15cm on hole 10 and Andrew got the prize on hole 13.
