Hold on tight! Winners announced

With more than 60 entries into May's Best Photo Competition it was the biggest month in history, but only one photo can reign supreme.

Amee Holder's 'Hold on tight' showed amazing clarity and colour and stood out as the judge's favourite for May. And it seemed the voting public agreed declaring the image the Most Popular Photo as well.

Amee has won the major prize of a $100 Garrick's Camera House voucher and $50 cash, and also a snazzy MasterChef apron and Italian cookbook courtesy of Coles Supermarket Port Douglas. Congratulations Amee!

Tod Walker has been a regular in the monthly shortlists since joining the competition a few months ago, and his portrait 'Doll Face' caught the eyes of the judges, earning him second prize - a stretched canvas to the value of $75 thanks to Perrin Clarke at Imagebank Australia.

Win big in the region's Best Photo Competition.

It must be said that Tod's 'Little Home' was also very eye-catching and showed brilliant technique.

Sports fans will be happy to see Joel Van Kalken's 'Thirsty Work' take out third prize - an underwater camera valued at $40 thanks to Coles Supermarket Port Douglas.

While the plethora of prizes are all very nice, there is clearly a bigger picture here (pardon the pun). The Best Photo Competition creates an amazing gallery of regional photos which we know are being viewed by readers from all over the world.

After spending a few minutes looking at the hundreds of photos on the site, it'd be hard to resist contemplating a holiday to this amazing area.

June entries are now being accepted so get your photo in to editor@thenewsport.com.au.
