100 students from the Elly Lukas Beauty Therapy College in Melbourne have once again descended on Port Douglas.

The group undertook workshops while staying at Sea Temple Resort and Spa, but headed to the reef on Friday to enjoy the sunshine, and an early dinner on the boardwalk at Lure Restaurant.

"They do it twice a year. It's good for the town, good for business," said Lure's Wayne Stapleton.

"They bring between 50 and 100 students each time and they're young so if they like the town they'll come back," he said.

And that's highly likely according to one of the students who has made her first trip to Port Douglas.

"It's incredible here. Being out on the reef was amazing and to be able to kick back on the boardwalk and watch all the boats, I love it."
