Goal of the year in Junior AFL
Well it was back to reality for the mighty Under 8s Port Douglas Crocs. After playing in front of 10,000 mad screaming Tigers and SUNS supporters on Saturday night at Cazaly’s Stadium they played in front of 10 parents, albeit very enthusiastic, at North Cairns oval against the South Cairns Cutters on an early and damp Sunday morning.
Inspired by the close game on Saturday night, the boys turned it on in the opening quarter. Led magnificently by game day captain Hugo ”Cloke” Ellison and the strong marking skills of Kai ”Walker” Durie who provided many options going forward for the Crocs.

When moved into the middle Daniel ”Cross” Harrington played one of his best games of the year with some great contested possessions and was well supported by the Wall Brothers Dalton ”Watson” and Sam ”Tuck” who both played very consistent games.

Angus “Lynch” Van Rouylan was everywhere with some excellent long left kicks and some fantastic smothers finishing with four goals, and the in and under efforts of Kalan ”Jarman” Poole and Haydan
”Cousins” Cresswell received plenty of praise from coach Matt Scott.
Colby ”Daicos” Taylor put his hand up for goal of the year with a clever kick form the boundary, and the rebounding defensive play of Tam ”Thurston” Neguyen was another highlight from the game.
Coach’s awards went to Dalton, Angus, Colby and Hugo.
