The Dark Knight Rises, the film likely to become the highest grossing movie of all time, has finally arrived in Port Douglas.

Over the next two nights - Friday and Saturday - Moonlight Cinema at QT Resort will be teaming with fans of Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy, eager to see the epic 165 minute finale.

Critics have raved about movie starring Christian Bale who returns in the lead role, Tom Hardy as Bane, the muscle-bound baddy intent on destroying Gotham City, and Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle, a master cat burglar who, despite apparently not being referred to as 'Catwoman,' has night vision goggles that flip up to bear an uncanny resemblance to cat ears.

Taking place eight years after the events of The Dark Knight, Gotham city revels in some long-awaited peace. Yet Kyle whispers that this is merely the calm to a chaotic criminal storm.

Still pinned for Harvey Dent's crimes, Batman is forced to return to the city as a wanted fugitive in order to prevent the fall of Gotham, as well as the rise of Bane.
